Yall, I have never been more excited about a fitness trend than I am about Kayla Itsines Beach Body Guide (BBG.) If you have not heard about Kayla or her workouts, here is a quick summary. Hailing from Adelaide, Australia, Kayla Itsines is a 24 year old personal trainer and fitness guru who has recently taken the workout industry by storm. Having worked at a “women’s only” training facility in Australia she quickly learned what women are constantly trying to achieve in body images and goals.
Kayla Itsines founded the 12 week BBG program, and built a strong social media presence to share her fitness routines, tips, and healthy eating plans with others. She frequently shares her followers’ transformation pictures, which are truthfully what got me thinking “Hey, I can do this.” Her fans and followers are an inspiration, and she has a built a community that encourages each other to succeed.
I am not going to lie, these workouts are hard. BBG combines Resistance Training and LISS (low intensity steady state cardio). Resistance Training involves circuit training over a span of 28 minutes. Yes, 28 minutes is all it takes! You have two circuits each containing 4 exercises. Your goal is to do each exercise as many times as you can over the course of seven minutes, and then you move on to the second circuit. Each circuit is repeated twice. Think weighted squats, triceps dips, lunges, and push ups.
