“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” Awards season is here, and I have to say that all my closest friends in Hollywood started it out with a bang. I mean seriously, did you see J-LO’s Zuhair Murad dress and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry?
Everyone looked phenomenal in their designer gowns, sipping champagne, and mingling with their A-list best friends, while I watched from my couch, eating leftovers, and trying to photo-shop my head onto Amal Clooney’s custom made one shoulder Christian Dior gown, with white silk gloves, and 29-carat Harry Winston diamond drop earrings. One-word: Stunning. George Clooney didn’t look too shabby either.
I really do enjoy watching these awards shows regardless of the countless commercials and silly commentary. They inspire me with their glamour, color palettes, and trends. This year, I am giving out my own awards. Here are my Top 5 Best Jewelled and Top 5 Best Dressed from the 2015 Golden Globes.
Top 5 Best Jewelled
1. Naomi Watts
Obviously, Naomi Watts hands down wins this award. the 76-CARAT diamond Bulgari snake necklace with her neon yellow Gucchi strapless column dress was to die for.
2. Jennifer Aniston
My old friend Rachel Green, known to most others as Jennifer Aniston, stepped out on the red carpet nominated for her highly anticipated and what some are saying career changing role in “Cake” looking utterly fabulous. The Neil Lane gold and onyx chandelier earrings were the perfect jewels to compliment her halter neckline, and feminine tuxedo-ish gown.
Although Lorde has told us countless times she will never be royal, she rocked some royal bling last night. Her 100-carat diamond and platinum Cleopatra necklace and 7 diamond and platinum rings from jeweler Neil Lane sparkled on the red carpet, with her trendy-chic pantsuit.
4. Emily Blunt
We all know my obsession with the turquoise hue, so its no surprise that I was gawking over Emily Blunt’s blue gem and diamond Lorraine Schwartz floral chandelier earrings and matching bracelet with her Michael Kors Grecian chiffon white gown. It was pure femininity. She might not have won the award for supporting actress in “Into the Woods”, but she has received a lot of buzz on her red-carpet look.
5. Amy Poehler
And last but not least, Amy Poehler’s Irene Neuwirth labradorite necklace, ring and piled-on bracelets, reminded us that while many of the stars wore jewels that cost more than I’ll make in my lifetime, we can get that red carpet look. All I have to say to her look is, “YES PLEASE!”
1. Julianne Moore
Julianne Moore was a double whammy last night. Not only did she win Best Actress in a Drama for her portrayal of a middle-aged mother going through the early stages of Alzheimer’s in “Still Alice”, but she also won best dressed. Her Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci custom gown was to die for. The blue and silver hues paired with her fiery hair and smokey eyes was flawless. Well done to her stylist!
2. Sienna Miller
Plunging necklines seemed to be a theme this year (refer to JLO), and Sienna Miller rocked the trend. With her new “Lob” and Tiffany & Co jewels, her Miu Miu ivory silk duchesse gown with sheer tulle back reminded me of a grown up baby doll dress. And I LOVED it! It’s quite far from the look she portrays in the highly anticipated “American Sniper,” proving she’s got it going on.
3. Kate Hudson
Again, necklines. Let’s talk about Kate Hudson. First of all, she has two kids, and can wear what she wore last night. Although, I don’t think I will ever be able to get over her canary yellow gown and matching diamond necklace she wore when she realized Matthew McConaughey was the one for her in “How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days,” her Atelier Versace gown accented with side cutouts and adorned with Swarovski crystal beading at the waist last night was a close second. I’ll even call it a tie.
4. Emma Stone
Another redhead made my list. On a night when gowns are strongly encouraged, Emma Stone took a huge risk in her Lanvin Jumpsuit and it paid off. She’s been on top of all the best-dressed lists, not to mention her film, “Birdman” took home multiple awards last night.
5. Heidi Klum
And last but certainly not least, the runway Queen, Heidi Klum. Everything about this was perfect. The asymmetrical Versace dress that featured panels of glossy red applique and a train, combined with the classic film star waved hair, screamed old Hollywood meets 2015. Did I mention shes 41?
Well done Hollywood, and all the stylists who make these looks a reality. I was truly impressed with everyone’s ensembles. Comment below and tell me which was your favorite? Only 41 days until my next set of awards go out! Countdown to the Oscar’s is on!
