Happy Thanksgiving from Hermosa

Happy Thanksgiving from Hermosa Jewelry

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday spent filled with gratitude, good food, friends, and family.  I want to extend a giant thank you to my loyal customers. Without you, Hermosa would not exist.

I never thought when I started making jewelry at the age of 12 that I would be doing this as my career 17 years later.  I am so thankful that I get to do what I love each and every day as a JOB.  I’m proud that I am able to create products that are made in the USA.

I’m grateful for the challenges and lessons learned that running my own business brings. There are definitely highs and lows, but I’m blessed to have a great support system from friends, family, and clients that remind me to keep my head up and keep going.

Thank you for supporting my my small business and helping my dreams come true.  Sending my blessings to each and every one of you.

xoxo,
Haley

Hermosa for a Historic Rice Mill Wedding

Tyrrell and Michael Venditti

Charleston, South Carolina

Happy Wedding Wednesday! Today on the blog I am featuring Tyrell and Michael Venditti’s sweet southern wedding in Charleston, SC. This sweet duo from Texas chose the Historic Rice Mill as their venue for their big day and it did not disappoint! Tyrrell and Michael tied the knot with a front row view of the historic waterfront dock and their dreamy ceremony was followed by a gorgeous  reception boasting with historical charm. Being a Charleston native, I know just how breathtaking this venue is but check it out for yourself in the pictures below thanks to Once Like a Spark Photography

Custom bridal Jewelry Charleston SC

WHAT THEY WORE

Tyrrell wanted those near and dear to her to feel very special on her wedding weekend so we designed a plethora of elegant pieces for her bridesmaids, mothers, aunts, and grandmothers to wear. To kick off her lowcountry themed wedding weekend, Tyrrell wore a Hermosa oyster shell necklace for the rehearsal dinner.  This custom necklace was made with aquamarine beads, abalone teardrops, freshwater pearls, and a large painted oyster shell.

On Tyrrell’s wedding day, she wore a gorgeous Augusta Jones dress and her five bridesmaids wore pink Lula Kate dresses accessorized with Hermosa  earrings. For these earrings, I designed dangles that would be both elegant and fun against the ruffling neckline of the Lula Kate dresses. The bridesmaid earrings featured white freshwater coin pearls on a brushed gold quatrefoil link and 14kt gold filled french ear wires.

“The jewelry was fabulous! I see my bridesmaids wearing their earrings all the time. I loved them so much that I actually bought myself a pair after the wedding.”

I also created custom pieces for the Mothers, the grooms Grandmother (Mimi) and Tyrrell’s two Aunts. For the mothers, I designed two gold wired birds nest necklaces with Tyrrell’s wedding date engraved on a charm. For the groom’s Grandmother, I created a gold oyster pendant on a rose quartz faceted rosary chain and a charm engraved with the wedding date. For the Aunts, I made a gold oyster shell pendant with white freshwater pearls and the Rutledge pearl necklace which consisted of seven white freshwater pearls on a gold filled chain.

“My husband’s grandmother thanked me for the necklace every time I spoke with her on the phone and saw her in person, for nearly a year after the wedding.”

I also assisted Tyrrell in making oyster ornaments for her guests.  She had planned on making them herself but ran out of time.  I loved how these turned out and will be making more for the upcoming holiday season!

“Haley was so accommodating and able to make some of my last minute ideas such as my oyster ornaments that I gave away as gifts to the guests. I had originally thought I would DIY these. That DID NOT happen. But, Haley jumped in to save the day last minute.”

WHAT SHE SAID

When I asked Tyrrell about her experience with Hermosa, she said,

“Hermosa Jewelry was recommended by my wedding planner, Megan Chandler. I love everything Haley makes it is so unique and crafted by hand. I also loved the Charleston influence.”

“Haley is such a great partner. She listens to exactly what you want and allows you to be part of the design process while also making fabulous suggestions. I feel like she was able to meet me exactly where I needed her and able to allow me to assist in the selection and design process while still bringing her expertise to the table.”

“Everything was so personalized and special, but also fashionable and jewelry that each person was able to wear over and over again after our wedding day.”

Tyrrell was an amazing bride to work with! We had so much fun designing pieces for her wedding party and I loved helping her out with her Oyster shell ornaments! I am absolutely honored to have accessorized Tyrrell and her Bridal party on such a special day.

Pretty in Pearls for a Pawleys Island Wedding

Katie and Taylor Reed

Pawleys Island, South Carolina

Happy Wedding Wednesday! I am so excited to reveal Katie and Taylor Reed’s gorgeous wedding in Pawleys island, South Carolina. The couple chose the charming town of Pawleys Island because it feels like a second home to them. Katie grew up in Myrtle Beach and Taylor’s family has been taking summer vacations to Pawleys island for 25 plus years. Katie and Taylor were married at Pawleys Island Community Church Chapel and held their reception at Heritage Plantation. The pictures from this sweet couples wedding are absolutely amazing, thanks to Carmen Ash Photography.

Katie found Hermosa Jewelry through Instagram! She had seen a picture of a bride, her mom, and her mother-in-law all wearing the same beautiful double strand pearl bracelet on her wedding day. She wanted something special like that for her big day too. She also wanted her bridesmaids to have jewelry to wear that day and to have as a keepsake.

For Katie’s wedding, I designed three double stranded white freshwater pearl bracelets with a beautiful crystal and gold clasp. These elegant bracelets were worn at the wedding ceremony by the bride, her mother and her mother in law. Katie’s six bridesmaids wore earrings made of brushed gold quatrefoil links with white freshwater coin pearls. These dangle style earrings looked amazing against the high neckline of  the Amsale bridesmaid dresses.  Katie also had me create two pairs of earrings for her readers which I made with slightly larger quatrefoil links and pearls.

Custom Jewelry for a Sweet Southern Wedding Under the Oaks

Catherine Smith & Ted Sullivan

Edisto Island, South Carolina

It’s Wedding Wednesday here on the blog and I am so excited to reveal Catherine Smith and Ted Sullivan’s picture perfect wedding at Brookland Pointe on Edisto Island in South Carolina.  The bride and groom chose this location because Ted’s family owns a beach house on Edisto Island, and it was the first place he took Catherine for a weekend getaway. Ted and Catherine’s ceremony took place beneath the majestic live oaks covered with Spanish moss overlooking the marsh at sunset. The views were breathtaking, the weather was perfect and the romance between the couple set the tone for this intimate, outdoor celebration.

See for yourself as you scroll down to the beautiful images thanks to wedding photographer Dana Cubbage.

WHAT THEY WORE

When Catherine asked me to create the custom jewelry for her wedding, I was ecstatic! Catherine and I had gone to college together and were in the same sorority so helping her create the perfect custom jewelry on such a monumental day was a huge honor.

custom jewelry/ hermosa jewelry

“I loved working with Haley! She made the entire process fun and easy from start to finish. I was able to go to Haley’s studio and pick out each bead and jewel for my custom jewelry. She took my ideas and made them come to life!”

The four bridesmaids’ earrings were made of brushed gold quatrefoil links with white freshwater coin pearls and clear Swarovski crystal accents. These dangle style earrings were both subtle and elegant against the buttery yellow bridesmaid dresses designed by Bari Jay from Charleston Bella Bridesmaids. When Catherine saw the final product of the earrings she loved them so much that she had me make a pair for her as well!  In addition to the earrings, Catherine wanted four custom bracelets.  For Catherine’s sister, I designed an elegant white freshwater coin pearl cuff; and for the mothers a classy two stranded white, freshwater pearl bracelet with a beautiful crystal and gold clasp.

“I had 5 pairs of earrings created for myself and my bridesmaids. Haley created a special bracelet for my sister who was my maid of honor. I also had bracelets made for my mother, Ted’s mother and Ted’s step mother. I presented the custom jewelry to my girls at our bridal luncheon and everyone was brought to tears.”

“My favorite thing about the earrings is that they were perfect for my wedding day but I still wear them all the time and without fail get compliments!”

WHAT SHE SAID

When I asked Catherine about her experience with Hermosa Jewelry and she said,

” I chose Hermosa Jewelry for my wedding day because I was able to completely customize my jewelry and Haley creates beautiful, unique pieces.  I am so happy with the way that everything turned out. Haley creates one of a kind custom jewelry at very reasonable prices. She made the entire process fun, which can be difficult to do as stressful as wedding planning is.”

Catherine was absolutely amazing to work with and such a stunning bride! I am honored to have been a part of her gorgeous wedding by accessorizing her entire bridal party in custom jewelry. Thank you!

Custom Jewelry for a Tropical Destination Wedding

Erin Peters & Jason Slotkin

Cancun, Mexico

It’s Wedding Wednesday here on the blog, and I am so excited to reveal Erin Peters and Jason Slotkin’s gorgeous Cancun Wedding. The pictures alone have me drooling and ready to book my next vacation! The wedding took place at Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico. The wedding was relaxed, elegant and charming with a hint of seaside swank sprinkled throughout its sandy midst. The beach created a stunning backdrop and the sea inspired decor took care of the rest!

Custom Wedding Jewelry | Hermosa Jewelry

THE CUSTOM JEWELRY PROCESS

When I got the call from Erin to create the custom jewelry for her destination wedding, I was over the moon.  Erin loved the custom jewelry from a previous wedding that I designed and she basically only wears Hermosa Jewelry herself.  Erin lives in Baltimore, so we did all the preparation and design through photos and emails.  She specifically wanted custom jewelry to go with her beachy yet classy theme.  We designed dangle earrings similar to a pair that I previously made for her sister (and my best friend).  Erin wore the original earrings as her something borrowed.  I made four abalone cuffs for the mother of the bride, mother of the groom, maid of honor, and a bridesmaid that did not have her ears pierced.  Erin loved the abalone shell beads because of the hints of blues and greens that accented the tropical waters of Cancun.

Hermosa Jewelry | Custom Wedding Jewelry

WHAT THEY WORE

On the big day, the bride looked stunning in Hermosa dangle earrings and abalone bracelet which accented her beautiful starfish hairpiece.  The bridesmaids earrings were made of white freshwater pearls, baby pink stick pearls, faceted blue chalcedony teardrops, and seafoam Swarovski crystals. These dangle style earrings paired perfectly with the varying necklines and vibrant color of the charming, sea glass bridesmaids dresses rented from Union Station.

If you haven’t heard of Union Station and you’re planning a wedding… do yourself a favor and check them out, it’s Rent the Runway for brides and their maids!  This online company offers bridesmaid dresses you can rent, wear and return. Now why couldn’t I have thought of this genius idea! Custom Wedding Jewelry | Hermosa Jewelry

Custom Bridesmaids Earrings for a Charleston Wedding

Courtney Cockfield & Todd Avant

Charleston, SC

I was honored when my Zeta sister, Courtney asked me to create eight pairs of custom bridesmaids earrings for her upcoming Charleston wedding.  Since we live in different towns, Courtney and I designed the bridesmaids earrings by relaying photos over email.  I created a few samples with various designs and Courtney narrowed down her decision from the photos.

We ended up with dangle earrings made with faceted clear quartz teardrops, freshwater pearls, and iridescent Swarovski crystals.  The custom bridesmaids earrings were a perfect accent to the variety of necklines of the ice blue Lula Kate bridesmaid dresses (another Charleston designer!).  Courtney was the belle of the ball in her blush gown from a local Charleston gown boutique, Fabulous Frocks.  Props to Courtney for using all local Charleston businesses!  I asked Courtney how the custom design experience was and she said,

“Hermosa Jewelry has been my go to for special occasions for years! So, when it was time to choose bridesmaid jewelry there was no decision to make, it was Hermosa!  I wanted my best friends to have simple but classic jewels for my wedding.  The custom earrings were just that, a timeless classic accessory that will never go out of style and a keepsake for years to come!”

Courtney was a dream to work with, and I had a blast at her wedding which was a the Country Club of Charleston!  See for yourself as you scroll down to the beautiful images thanks to Leigh Webber Photography.

Custom Jewelry for a Black Tie Plantation Wedding

Jamie Edwards & Fran Johnson

Combahee Plantation // Yemassee, SC

It’s Wedding Wednesday and I am so excited to reveal Jamie Edwards and Fran Johnson’s wedding.  Jamie and Fran both grew up in Mt. Pleasant, SC and were high school sweethearts.  They attended University of South Carolina and have been together for over eleven years. I was happy to help when Jamie contacted me to customize jewelry for her nine bridesmaids, mom, and mother in law.

What They Wore…

Jamie knew that she wanted a bold earring for the beautiful white and blush Joanna August bridesmaids dresses from Bella Bridesmaid.  After her design consultation, she decided on the large ornate brushed gold quatrefoils with a white freshwater pearl teardrop.  For Jamie’s sister and matron of honor, I designed a special pair of earrings with a brushed silver link, clear quartz teardrop, and a pale pink freshwater pearl.  Jamie also wanted to make special bracelets for her mother and mother in law to wear the day of the ceremony.  She picked out two gorgeous crystal clasps that were accented with multiple strands of white freshwater pearls.

Jamie  found her beautiful (and amazing!) strapless Monique Lhuillier dress from Maddison Row, a local Charleston bridal boutique.  Check out the photos below by Clay Austin Photography who did an amazing job capturing Jamie and Fran’s black tie soiree at the historic Combahee Plantation.
